Duncan Chamberlain founded Bridging to the Future (BTF) in 2007, after a career spanning both education and business.BTF was an investment company to microinvest in start-ups & early growth businesses. Through this experience, Duncan realised that many talented people & good ideas were not business ready & so BTF opened a R&D department to develop new methodologies to develop entrepreneurial education,enterprise leadership,employability business start-ups and ready for growth businesses. A majority share of the beneficiaries are social business/enterprise ensuring that community based & operated businesses can flourish & retain human talent & profit in local communities.BTF has a range of methodologies, as well as its invest interests – the focus increasingly on individual, community & regional economic independence. A core programme is SLAM! , alongside Active Incubation, The 3Q Model, The Bridge Model and MicroInvest.

SLAM! is a social business/enterprise and leadership development programme which focuses on building leadership & enterprise capacity within communities, schools, universities and inside businesses. The SLAM Model is an enabling & empowering leadership development methodology with an entrepreneurial edge. SLAM consists of practical coaching sessions, bespoke learning resources & development pathways, peer-led learning & teaching and live experience in real life scenarios. These are enhanced through continuous advice & support from local enterprise and community leaders. The SLAM model creates increased capacity & confidence, of youth & youth organisations to be leaders and more enterprising in their own lives and communities.
