- Meet Janet
Janet's interest in social causes developed through voluntary work, particularly that of a political nature as well as JA-YE Malta. Following her studies in entrepreneurship in the creative industries, she worked within a political office and during a recent electoral campaign, was exposed to the needs of the most challenged parts of society. Janet was mostly struck by issues of multi-generational unemployment and was determined to tackle this faction of youth unemployment.
reSTART aims to run an employment programme for unskilled and unqualified youths aged 16 or older, who have little hope of being gainfully employed within the near future. The participants would be given the opportunity to up cycle furniture, then re-sell it, in a sheltered environment. The once almost unemployable youths, now aptly called achievers, would learn the soft skills they lacked and can eventually take to any work place. Most importantly, the achievers are now positive contributors to the society and no longer victims of the circumstances they were born into.
